Russia’s Chukotka gold output falls 12% to 17 tns in Jan–Aug
VLADIVOSTOK, Sep 19 (PRIME) -- Gold production on Russia’s Chukotka peninsula decreased 12% on the year to 17.178 tonnes in January–August, the regional government said in a statement on Tuesday.
Alluvial gold output grew 17% to 1,822 kilograms.
Silver production in the area fell 20% to 87.8 tonnes in the period.
Chukotka Mining and Geological Company, a unit of Kinross Gold, produced 6,417 kilograms of gold and 74.8 tonnes of silver at its Kupol deposit.
Production of Severnoye Zoloto, Kinross Gold’s affiliate that develops the Dvoinoye deposit, amounted to 5 tonnes of ore gold and 7.96 tonnes of silver.
Output of gold concentrate at the Maiskoye deposit, developed by Polymetal’s unit, amounted to 2,413 kilograms.
